Suggestions for increasing the overall fairness of the game and increasing the length of versions:

But seriously, remove plating. I think the idea in general is good, but it can not be implemented without too many negative consequences. If plating should, or must, be kept, then have it expire at a random time when a % of players have past X RP% of Chief (or something like that).
The second change I would make is limiting the amount of families engaged in war at any given time. Specifically, you can ONLY engage in war against families in the SAME CITY as you. Conversely, no out outside of your own city can shoot you.
Once you have defeated all of your enemies in your city and have 100% control of your own city then, and only then, can you expand from your city and engage in war in ANY other city.
In order to win, your family must have 100% control over your base city (the city you first started in) and you must have established your family in each of the remaining 7 cities - create a family spot and boost the boss of that spot to Underboss (similar to Capodecina).
Oh, and 1 more very important change - NO name changes. The family that 'wins' is the family that wins. No more name combo's to make 7 families feel happy about winning together. There should only be ONE.
Sure, families can still work together, and WILL have to work together - especially to eliminate their enemies in cities they dont share, but at some point those two families will have to determine who is the master and who is the slave and take one of them down - either willingly, or by force.
Killing your enemies will now be much more difficult and by not allowing cross-city wars it will give (at least 8) families room to grow and build. You want to eliminate a threat in another city? Either financially back another family in that city, or start your own family there to take them down! Or, you can simply grow your own family in your own city until you own 100% of the city and then strike!

Sluths are actually settling for 19th place, but only heterosexual Omerta historians would understand this.

you are missing the point completely.
you may have made changes to obay, but fact is there are people with 3 and even 4mil bullets after 22 days of gameplay.
i am not missing the milestones thing, their lowrank account can ofcourse be killed. but it makes a don with 2x or 3x as many points as other dons.
the only way to really balance things is by removing pay to win. you remove pay to win by removing obay bullets and hp points.
anything else is a waste of your and our time

Related to the top positions, you are ignoring the milestones factor in here. If they were #1 before, they can start with all bullets as they died and stay in top20. Same applies to busters and other factors.
In other hand, this are pickpocket and DB, anyone with few hours in the game can shoot and very likely kill them.

We already added some changes on Plating, and there are 2 more under development/testing.
Added and LIVE on .dm and .pt:
- Plating doesn't apply anymore for families in the same city;
- Plating doesn't apply anymore for people in the same family;
- Hitlist buyout is now the same amount of the buy-in;
- After being hitlisted for 48h, the player will lose plating until he is bought out.
