The so called pact of 3.4 and their supporting families back then are being shot by a new massive force, after plans leaked that "the pact" was going to shoot first.
Among the first attackers where the Marazzino and Yigidos alliances, who targetted Vincitori, Conflict and the Liberta alliance.
Because of leaked plans, Vincitori, Liberta and their bloods were already on standby, resulting in a quick counter.
Because of the number of families involved and the downtime this war was utter chaos, but I'll try to make a detailed account.
Marazzino+, Yigidos+, Gelibolu+ → Vincitori, Liberta+
Revelations → Conflict
The Supremazia and Lucchese alliances countered quickly for their bloods, resulting in:
Supremazia, Messina, Lucchese/Squad → Blacksea, Yigidos
Memento and Samagono jumped in to help conflict
Memento, Samagono → Revelations
Righelli and Bruinsma helped their blood too by shooting Kurosawa. Kuro however denied shooting at Conflict.

Armada chose to shoot Gelibolu+
Armada → Gelibolu, Impero
Infragilis counter-countered for their blood Kurosawa
Infragilis → Bruinsma
Within an hour tho, Underground starting shooting Lucchese/Squad, after which Lucchese focussed on Underground while Supremazia and Messina focussed on Blacksea and Yigidos

After Revelations was decimated, Conflict was again under attack.
Argonauts → Conflict
Before long, Supremazia and Armada found themselves under attack too, so they dropped their targets as well and defended themselves against Vertigo, Venture and Xzone

During this war, 2 hijacks occurred as well, both Vertigo and Goldenarmy.
After the war started the servers of omerta went down. Rumours started that the servers got down due a DDoS attack.
Bramblerose created a news post about what happend after the servers got up again.
2 days later, the shooting has stopped. With both attackers and defenders decimated, this war has no clear winner.

Dear all,
Some players found it necessary to ddos attack Omerta last night. You all experienced the downtime caused by this attack.

Blocking an ongoing ddos attack is fairly trivial because you can see the zombies which are attacking and block them. Its likely not the the Omerta servers are DDOS proof(nothing is) but that the offender had his zombies blocked. So to continue attacking the one in control of the botnet would need a new set of zombies to continue attacking. So Omerta would be DDOS proof against the current attackers zombies but should he or anyone else use a different set of zombies the same issue could arise. That is what could have been done in an hour to get the game back up and would explain a continued downtime after Teckna arrived(based on arrival on IRC) If it was just a crash then it should just take a simple reboot + some time for services to boot and such.
So a DDOS and simple block does fit, but of course there are many other theories that fit also.

it took almost all non-pact fams to get a 1:1 brug ratio. and you talk about poor management. is sad you stick together. as long as you do so, we we'll have the same war over and over again every version. hope you guys having fun kissing each others ass

Compare it to a soccer game. Usually fans of both sides would leave x amount of time in advance, make their wway to the stadium and go to their respective seats. The way the stadium infrastructure is designed makes this whole process easy to handle.
Now imagine some joker makes a facebook post and asks all rivalling fans from other teams to go to that game as well, not to fight but just to create a chaos. So the traffic on the highway would get jammed, the queue to enter the stadium would be x10, and the stewards would be in trouble to weed out the people without a ticket from the genuine ticket holders. Complete chaos and the game would have to be postponed or have to start without most of the fans.
That's basically what happens during a ddos attack. Some joker obtains a botnet (thats a network of hacked / infected computers, typically through a virus or trojan) that he can buy for a very limited amount of money from russians, and then he starts sending page requests to a website / ip address. Instead of the usual traffic, the website gets flooded by a multitude of requests until the point where it can no longer handle it and just concedes. See it as 100k people logging in to omerta instead of 2k ones, and they all start to click all pages like mad men.
The thing is that most decent datacenters are more or less well equipped to deal with those every day ddos attacks. Obviously the scale of the attack (i.e. the amount of infected computers you can abuse to spam a website) can be that huge that it will take out most sites anyhow. But then again you can't ask omerta to have the same means as the nasa.

Pact became bigger because of all these so called 'as one' alliances became so big. They might be 'as one' still doesn't change they are 7 different families and 40 families would be on the attacking side. Pacts like these are a counter mechanism, next to that not all defending families today are in 1 pact. I even doubt it's one complete pact since not all of them blooded eachother. (some of them did ofcourse)
