The series of balance reworks aimed to fix the game and bring it to the modern era are being tested on .dm
After a test/tweak period some/all of them will make their way to .com in an upcoming version. (Probably the one after next)
Below is an overview of the most important tweaks being tested and the logic behind them:
Balance update #2: Punish lackeys, bring back kill skill, punish multi-city wars
1. Rank requirements
Ranking is big part of the game and it feels like ranking has become way too easy and too monotone for Lackey-only accounts. We want to add some low limitations to make sure that the account ranking up has put enough effort to deserve the promotion.
Requirements list:
- promotion to Picciotto: 1 Travel
- promotion to Shoplifter: 3 Travels Handgun
- promotion to Pickpocket: 1 Heists Tommygun
- promotion to Thief: 2 Heists 1 Bodyguard Plane
- promotion to Associate: 5 Travels 3 Heists 1 OC 500 bullets
- promotion to Mobster: 10 Travels 5 Heists 1 OC 2 Bodyguard
- promotion to Soldier: Armour (Bulletproof Vest OR Bulletproof Suit)
- promotion to Swindler: 15 Travels 2000 bullets 3 Molotov cocktails
- promotion to Assassin: 20 Travels 10 heists 2 OC 3 Bodyguard
- promotion to Local Chief: 25 Travels 15 heists 1 MOC
- promotion to Chief: 30 Travels 20 heists 3 raids (so family is needed!) 25.000 bullets 5 Bodyguard
- promotion to Bruglione: 25 heists 3 OC 2 MOC 5 raids 60.000 bullets
- promotion to Capodecina: 100% sum of KillSkill and BustSkill
- promotion to: Godfather: 100% of KillSkill OR BustSkill
*Note: These requirements are added on top of the required rank progress.
2. Account Heat
With the removal of "Tiredness", the game reached a very unbalanced state where Lackeys have a free pass to work 24/7 without any limitations. Basically, removing any user that wouldn't use Lackeys from competitive play. We want to enforce fair ranking for everyone and benefit more the active users.
Explanation:
- Each account starts with 0% of Heat (100% max)
- Every crime or illegal action that user does will increase heat (Lackeys gain 20% more heat)
- Heat will increase exponentially once it surpasses 60% - Gambling, Traveling will allow you to lower your Heat.
Changes:
- 48h Online timer is now removed
3. Emergency State
One big war has become the easiest way to attempt to win the game as a family. This kind of meta play gives a big benefit for families that have many allies.
To counter the current meta, we want to allow more families to fight 1v1 or smaller numbers instead of having massive groups of families fighting between themselves.
In case, they decide to still go for the big war, there are several punishments and we want to make the recovery harder.
Explanation:
When families from 3 different cities are involved in a war, the Feds will declare emergency state.
When emergency state is activated the following applies to all families in those cities:
- Nobody can leave family
- Travel times doubles up
- Safehouse cooldown increases from 1 hour to 2 hours
- Detectives will take more time to find people
- Every user can only buy a maximum of 50% of their bullet limit (ex: 100% RF users can only buy 500 bullets per hour)
- All family business (casinos included) will be instantly closed for 7 days (immediately demoting Godfathers and Capodecinas)
- Emergency state will be deactivated after shooting calms down.
Once it's deactivated, everything becomes back to normal except the closed business (those have a cooldown of 7 days since the day emergency state was activated)
*Note: Emergency state is only applied if families between 3 cities shoot each other. Parallel wars are still possible without alarming the Feds.
4. Bring back Killing Skill, Rob and Mia
Account customization has always been part of the game, we want to make sure we can allow more options instead of using the some bodyguards over and over again.
With this, we bring the so beloved Killing Skill and start to give more relevance to Busting Skill.
Explanation:
* Killing Skill and Busting Skill now have direct effect on Kill:
- Killing Skill makes it easier for you to kill someone (100% of Killing Skill gives you extra 50% attack)
- Busting Skill makes it harder for you to be killed (100% of Busting Skill gives you 50% extra defense)
- Killing Skill and Busting Skill are opposite to each other, this means, when you gain 1% of one, you lose 1% of the other - *
* Two new bodyguards are available:
- Rob: Rob's speciality is to give his life for yours. If you are about to die, Rob will jump in front and make sure he dies in your place. You may only buy Rob if you are at least Bruglione and have 100% Busting Skill.
- Mia: Mia's speciality is to make sure you have a right shot at the defender. Mia will kill Rob or the strongest bodyguard of the defender and allow you a clean shot. You may only buy Mia if you are at least Bruglione and have 100% Killing Skill.
Changes:
- Race Form, Busting Skill and Killing Skill will all have more agressive decays
- OC and MOC and Raids now also give Killing Skill:
* Leader gets X% extra RP
* Driver gets X% race form
* WE gets X% killing skill
* EE gets X% jail bust skill (busters can join)
- Kills now give Killing Skill
Tuning from Balance Patch #1 and some Quality of Life changes
The Balance Patch #1 is finally completed but there are some adjustments that we need to make
Changes:
- Downgrade plating to 1st Bruglione plus 48h when Mia/Rob patch is ready
- Numbers Game payout decreased to 7x from 9x
- Numbers Game now rolls from 0 to 9 and 0 is the house number (not possible to bet on)
- Blackjack will use 5 decks instead of 1 deck
- Casinos and Accomodations will be able to be sold on Obay
- Kill page now shows ranks and bullets shot on attempts
- Entering Safehouse will automatically fire all your lackeys
- Safehouse cooldown now displays on Kill page

If i were the admns, i'd make a bald investment, (probably an all-in), and set a prize to version winners.

It's not about the player's profit, as prolly a few of them spend more $$ per version than the prizes, it would be about the Ego boost and prolly some motivation to bring some people back.
With more people, prolly the prizes could increase to a decent amount.
