This is one case where you can say, 'less is more' even if it takes a bit longer, for example not using the crime lackey like you say, will save those credits for the other ones like b\n or cars, so you will win way more cash wich will come a bit later too if compared to using the dc at full capacity. From my calcs using a dc only for b\n is the best deal you can get if time isn't an issue for you, in this way anyone can afford dc's from obay at almost any price with a profitable base.

Example: if you get 6k credits from a donation code, and a donation code costs 5m, each crime needs to net you 833 gold to be break even. Seems quite high and not really worth it to me, definitely when you don't get a lot of RP from crimes.
