I think it's irrelevant that an individual can get dc's without spending any of their own real money. The fact is that real money is being exchanged for the dc in the first place. That person is either receiving the competitive advantage of using lackeys or they're receiving the competitive advantage of whatever ingame money that dc is worth on obay. Either way it goes against the idea of "donating" to the game/community.
Deston at 21:00:08 on 09/07:
But you can get dc's without investing a single penny of your real money. All it takes is some time and knowledge of the game and you can get on from obay. Yes, for ingame money they are (ridiculously?) expensive. If you don't like that then don't get them. If you don't use the crime lackey, you can easily earn a new dc with 5000 credits. Simple as that.

True true, is not donating anymore, is paying for play!!!

if no one will pay dc's with real money and put them on obay, how can you get one? And if more ppl will buy them on obay, demand will be bigger then supply. Prices will go up even more and there won't be enough dc's on obay for everyone. Even now it's pretty tough to buy dc on obay. I have no other option, then buy them on obay, cause for my country there's no option to buy them for $.

I really hate that they tied lackeys into the donate code system, and thought that they should have changed that right from the onset. You really get a huge advantage by using lackeys, so it's hard to argue that you're "donating" to the game/community at that point.

I never really understood how they called it donating, since you are actually paying for a service. Donating would be more along the lines of the donating that is done with wikipedia or mirc. You do it out of appreciation for the site. We buy dc's to get something directly back. Such as Don's of fams needing SMS to tell them when they are shot at. That is an extremely valuable tool not available to the non-donator. It's a tool I wish was disabled, but whatever.

I agree with you that its not essential to have a code to play, but i disagree about those extras being non competetive. To be competetive it has become essential to buy codes. If you don't use lackeys when you are off then you fall behind in rp, any of the competetive high rank players will tell you that. You don't need them for click limit anymore, you need them to keep up on rp while you're away, even if you're online 30 or 40% clicking manually.
However, since its not "essential", it can still be called donating. Its up to the individual if they want to buy the code to keep that edge, but those extras you talk about are now competetive since rp, even after the 300%, still plays a part in the KA.
Maybe this post falls on both sides, I don't know.. at the end of the day little we say here will make any difference anyway \o/
Rix at 16:45:41 on 09/07:
No, you don't. I'm sorry to be the Devil's Advocate but the donation codes are not a fundamental part needed to play, they only give some uncompetitive extra's. Even though you can trade them in for ingame money or other extra's like clicklimit lifted etc, they are just what the name implies; used for donating, at which the admins decide to give you something in return. If tomorrow the admins suddenly decide to withdraw all the extra's tomorrow, you would not have a leg to stand on when facing a judge.
The only thing you could say is that they sort off promise / lure you into donating with these extra's beforehand, but still I doubt a judge would agree. And what they did now with the ingame money is even worse, because they have the full rights on their ingame economy. You cannot sue them for it because you think you lost rl money because of it.
I'm not trying to pick the admins side at all, I'm just saying everyone should look at this realistic. I am probably still retired due to how the admins acted because of this hack (and how they handled the change on their loggerpage, which personally was the "drop which flooded the bucket" as we say here, but that bucket was mostly filled by how the hack was handled).

even if its called 'donation code' the admins made it an essential part of the game.. you need it to have the slightest chance of a competetive acc, hence everyone has to 'donate'

You think is sure... is not donate codes anymore, since they introduce lackeys, becouse you simple cant play without them!!!
Even that click limits, 11clicks... you dont even get 11 clicks to show up the thing!
This game is not free anymore, you simple cant play it with 11clicks or without lackeys!!!
