You're comparing a common holiday with a specific day/specific religion, it makes zero sense.

Just because thanksgiving is a holiday doesn't mean it's essential to force this day on all non canadian/american countries aswell, NOR should it be vice versa; and should they forget about Thanksgiving just because other countries don't participate in it.
