Everyone's been doing that since what, 2.1?
First it was just the extra GF and the hammer. In 2.5 and onwards we've had Capodecinas too. But not a huge amount of sisterfamilies.
Then we became so focused on having a CD advantage over the rest that we started on it. Then there was a cap on amount of CDs in 3.0, the sisterfamily stuff really got started again. Then a cap of capos in general (on dm anyways), with a maximum of 7 capodecinas and a GF (5 capos, top 3). So that created more and more "reasons" to make sisterfamilies. And by now we have such a different mentality than in 2.x versions that we just put all members in 1 regime, once that capo hits 15 mil, a new capo comes. And we don't use more than 2 caporegimes. Why would we, you know?

I think it's a bit of both, changes in Omerta made us adapt to them, and even though we're basically back to where we started (No CDs, just 1 GF), the mentality we've gotten by adapting every time cannot be switched back. Only if we, out of a "moral" point of view, stop doing it.

But your enemies probably won't.

That's what eliminating CDs does. Now you can have a sister family just to have another CD/GF/FL. Look at marazzino for example. They have like 6 fams? (Marazzino, Rebellions, Bleach, Etna, Untouchables, Steamroller).

all those brothers/sister/as one fams are even more than with old fam system guess it's 1 big fail :p
