That's why I prefer to play old skool games, they were never meant to appeal to the general public. It's when major profit becomes the one and only priority.. the game itself will change into something you don't even recognize, Call of Duty is a good example of that as well.

I agree with that statement on some degree. But the changes over the years the devs made got us where we are today. You're talking about the time when it was a real skill to buy bullets from the lbf at any price. 1k bullets on Obay went for 2.5m, DC's didn't matter more than an improved click limit. No lackeys.. money was hard to come by since the group crimes (OC's only, later on heists) didn't reward you nearly as much as nowadays.
Ranking was so much slower, took way more effort to build your account into something. Families were limited, so even being in one was a privilege.

So yeah, times do change and not always for the better. That's why I still like to see a family who just goes "Fuck it, let's do this" in stead of following the usual path.

Sure there's a difference nowadays. Back in the old days players would however play this game way more like as if it were actually the real mafia. Much more respect, more politics and less (next to none) useless shootouts/wars. People's mindsets have changed, which in my humble opinion hasn't been for the best. Though I understand there'll be people who'll have a different opinion on that and I respect that.

I hope you do realise there is a difference between the real mafia and the mafia game we are a part of. Organizing an attack on an other fam is more fun than taking part of a mass shoot out.. even more so than waiting around and getting attacked yourselves.

That's because there's nothing to gain from shooting small families any more. It's all about survival. Objects are not beneficial and spots are abundant.

Huge alliances used to shoot small families too.. Why not now? Because it does not benefit anyone. It's a bitch thing to do to ruin another insignificant family's fun.
