Like so many have hinted and seen happening already this version. The big construction companies owned by the local mafia were using their power to gain money in even darker ways than usual for thugs. The feds caught on to the fraud and execution the culprits.

I actually think "advising" ex-scripters is a good thing in this instance.
What if all ex-scripters didn't change their password and all of a sudden they would deploy a mass hacking and just start shooting random people? People would cry their fucking guts out. Blaming the crew for not doing anything about it, while they knew about the hackings going on.
Imo this preventive measure is a good one.

I did not know this was an exploit, thought it was simply more efficient CD boosting, did not know it was actually generating money out of thin air. I am sure a lot of other people are the same. Doesn't really matter in the end. The problem is the crew reaction. Instead of fixing this and doing their best to take the money, etc. they blanket Akill. This WILL kill the game if they are not careful.

This is completely surprising. I've seen dubious actions from crew in the past, but this totally isn't one of them. It's impossible to just generate hundreds of millions of dollars out of thin air without noticing, or while thinking it's okay to do so. I'm glad to see most families having a construction spot didn't really abuse their spots.
As for people saying "If it's a bug they should fix it not punish the player for abusing it." Just read the disclaimer you're agreeing to, when registering an account for omerta. It clearly states "You may not: (...) (2) exploit any bugs in the game code or the structure of the game for the furtherment of you character in Omerta." Don't complain about something that's clear from the rules of the game.

Really, if there is a chance of originating millions from spot profit out of nowhere, the players will of course use it. So admins, fix this so there cannot be millions from nowhere, and stop akilling. Your rules create a chance to make millions, so some playes takes the chance make millions, and you mass-akill them? It does not sound 100% fair to me.

How did the abusing actually happens?
Apparently quite simple.
Buy an appartment in the city your family owns the Construction company.
Money from the construction goes to the spot.
Sell your appartment for 90% of the value, repeat over and over again.
Your account loses 10% of the appartment value, but the spot does not lose anything. Do it often enough big profit for your family, and you can ask for compensation from your fam.
Let's assume you bought appartments worth 10 mil. You sell them for 9 Mil. So you lose 1 mil, but your fam spot made 10 mil profit.
Net gain 9 mil.
Judging from the numbers the construction companies posted.
800 mil profit. Means 720 mil were generated out of thin air.

The bug only appeared couple days ago (less than 3 weeks) when we noticed the CC was not receiving money from Villas/Appartments buyings.
It was my fault to release this, since I totally forgot that selling was giving 90% back and left that part completely untouched. Some people were telling me about it, so I investigated it. I've fixed it couple days ago but then I realize some people were abusing it so took it out and catched them instead.
It's fixed now, next time it's easier to come report, I guess.
Sorry for the part where I totally didn't predict the sell issue but not sorry for entire familiies abusing it :)
