Last 10 versions lasted about 2 months on average, with some lasting 3. Reason is IMO the smaller player base and the lack of qualified tops, which means only a small number of families remain relevant, resulting in less possible war scenarios, which usually means 1-2 big wars in a version and then it's time for another reset.
There's also a new KA (well, it's been live for over a year now, so not really all that new) which is quite nice, but has the side-effect of making it pretty hard for rerankers to kill veteran accounts. Still way better than the random KA that's been used before, but it needs improvements for rerankers.

As for money, well, to stay at the top, you can either sell DCs, cheat in some way, or you're lucky enough to be top and you don't mind using your fam money for yourself. Otherwise it's pretty hard to keep up, although you can still build a relatively decent account without all that.

There have been quite a few rounds of akills for exploiters in the last year or so, and it seems duping is being taken a bit more seriously as well. Scripters are being hunted on .dm (which is running a new version that is set to replace .com at some point, though it's hard to say when that's going to happen.)

my advise - stay away! lackeys =Brandos way to make more money, still f*ck the manual players), proxies and bugs rules, things are worst than they where in good old script times. Most of the old timers have retired. Only those (old) who cheat are here + few that can't quit even they have tried... New faces - from .nl and .tr mostly. You have money in game = you hire lackeys, buy bullets = you "rule". Abuse all the bugs, poker they say = more money = you rule. Find nolifers that will use proxies to play "your" account = you rule. Just check the online times (of the dead) and you really should see irc - it's dead (as no one is online now a days = lackeys).

Played a long time ago, (we're talking like 3-4 years back), was thinking about giving things another go but I am interested in the state of things. Looks like resets occur with incredible frequency nowadays (sub 6months?)... what brought that about? are lackey's even more integrated into the gameplay? Can you be a competitive player without shelling out a ton of money, or have Brando and crew embraced the pay-to-win mantra? What is the state of hacking/script use? Have they finally introduced texas hold em yet? How is the community holding up? Just looking for some opinions on the state of gameplay right now. Thanks!
