For some reason admins decided to close #news. Read more below (excerpt from a log from #feds)
A couple of people are g-lined while setting up a new channel
* Shotta|away ([email protected]) Quit (G-Lined: !T1w - stop creating news channels for fingons. Fingons is no longer allowed. Shotta 1 week ban)
* Quits: @Killerzzz`Afk ([email protected]) (G-Lined: !T1w - stop creating news channels for fingons. Fingons is no longer allowed. killerzzz 1 week ban)
* Quits: ~Standup ([email protected]) (G-Lined: - stop creating newschannels - standup 1 week ban)
UPDATE
Fingon did set up the #news channel again on another server :

or alternatively :
/server -m irc.abjects.net -j #news
you need to register on this server too

Open ports 6665-6669, 7000, 9000
The G-Lines mentioned above should be gone.
