The common feeling among the players who run families cq rank fast is that the current version is locked. The general feeling is that a reset is the only solution. My theory (and some people who think alike) is that com need new blood. And most likely that are players who are now slowranking and who eventually become chief/brug and enjoy the thrill of wars. Once they have achieved their ranking goals, their new ambition will most likely be power (a top position in a family, their own family, ...).

Fact is that last versions were too short for those guys to grow (not that fams in charge should feel pity and spare them, they should still prove themselves, but there was just not time enough for new slowranking players to experience the game in all its aspects). And when players who have achieved the rank of swindler/assassin after 2-3 months playing - see their account gets deleted cause of a reset, chances are big they won't return to the game

So *our* point of view is simple: a reset has more downsides then positive effects. And within 2-3 months after a reset we'll end up with the same lock up (though maybe with different names). And this is an issue since 2.3. So unless omerta develops new ingame conditions to prevent this (like the long expected 3.0), the mindset of the players will be after a lock up: reset.

We have been thinking for alternatives, without believing we own the truth. We were only thinking about reset alternatives: i.e. how to avoid a reset and open the game, give new players the opportunity to keep ranking and give killed fams a new chance.
Thats why this topic was opened: to think about (silly/stupid/brilliant/whatever) ideas

The idea we had:

Everybody keeps his/her account but becomes famless. Disable killing, owning casino's, bullet factories and families for 4-6 weeks. This way all new/slow ranking people can still enjoy heir own account, and the hardrankers can rank up again like it would be after a reset. Some players will return to their own fams, but some will go their own way and make new fams. It would for sure be an interesting experiment.

For the game this might be a good solution, for the the hard ranking people it might be not ideal but at least there is a good chance to rebuild the fam without getting shot in advance.

Feel free to post any ideas to circumvent a reset ... thats why this topic is for.

Note: for those who can't, refuse to or are to lazy to read, this topic is not about judging this idea, but about alternatives for a reset. If you have no contribution in bringing up an idea, then save yourself the time to post, it will be deleted anyhow.

Ideas posted in this topic so far (read topic for more detailed description):

- lower the rank to start a fam to swindler: the more fams, the more action and the less impact it has on the total game .. and the more people can experience the game in all its aspects
- make different levels for families who can operate independently or join a family (e.g. underground crew starts from thief, capo regime starts from mobster, fam starts from swindler), every player can start his own initiative this way
- give famless people the ability to rank anonymous, no one can view his/her profile. when joining a fam you give up your cover
- slow down rank speed & bullet production back to 2.1/2.2, what will slow down version
- get rid of the leave money -> more people can make a fam
- make it possible to change the name of your account cq fake your death
- limit the number of good objects to 2-3 per fam
- get rid of fampage so fams can't announce their bloods on their profile (more mafia playing style needed then to find it out yourself)
- Well add a real blood/allie option in family options (various suggestions)
- only 2-3 fams should be able to attack 1 family at the same time
- attitude of the players need to change
- instead of making players to start over from scratch after getting killed, make them lose a few ranks
- put a hall of fame with stats from previous versions, that way fams are more keen to be declared sole winner
- close the subversions to get more people into com
- last fam standing is the winner of a version
- make spots / max amount of players in a fam smaller, this way the big fams will splinter and more people will make fams
- get rid of scratch & win, it takes the balance out of the game
- a total comeback to 2.1 gamestyle for com
- a separate version with 2.1 settings (old players will share there time between both and 'll give new players on com more chances)
- once a fam gets killed, it should be (forever) not possible for anyone to restart under the same name
- get rid of cd rank
- ghost fams: fams not run by players but by the game system (they keep the balance ingame)
- ghost fams who are occupying empty spots, you first need to shoot them before you can buy a spot
- faster ranking
- CDTC change; only 1 CDTC in whole omerta, all other fams pay 1-5% on their income to the CDTC fam -> fams will shoot to be CDTC
- first 4-6 weeks no killing/objects to give new fams a better chance
- players should rest after x hours of ranking (like what was planned for this round but then with better max time)
- make famwars more complicated
- more cities
- more bf settings

I have deleted all posts not suggesting ideas. Not because those post were bad, just because i want this topic to be focused on ideas. Not about commenting on someone else his/her ideas.

This way we have a better *idea* overview, cause not many people read full 200 posts.
