We have a new category on OBN, and it's called: "The weekly interview with KCode"

Here everyone can read about the new developments in Omerta, react, especaily "New Omerta, or ask questions. The questions of the ones who will reply here will be asked and made public in next weeks interview!

KCode is an Omerta developer with a main mission going on in the background. Together with a team who contains a full time designer, database administrator and even an assistant they are working on this mission

What is this mission?

We've been working in a complete remake from Omerta, keeping the same Omerta concept but a complete redesigned database, new technologies and specially a brand new code from scratch.

Why is it necessary to create everything from scratch?

Well pretty much, the game was developed around 10 years ago, by that time the code was AMAZING for the tools that developers had around that time, nothing was easy as it is now. The tools were created, the core was created the game run under it, but we're talking about old mechanics of PHP3/4 while now we're almost reaching a complete new era of PHP (a lot of new tools).

For the ones that don't know, PHP is the language that Omerta is developed in.

The fact that big part is old code is already demotivating enough but adding the fact that too many developers passed thru it and changed things here and there is even more demotivational to work on it. So main idea is to introduce a new Omerta era where in techinal part of company things will work way better and with more control, specially related to safety issues that we had in past.

So for a regular player, without any PHP knowledge it means, the new Omerta is more safe? faster? bug free?

Well, to leave a notion that it's not that easy as it seems, Omerta has more than million lines of code, pretty much with changes from more than 20 developers, some that never met eachother.

So with a complete remake, yes... It is safer, definetely faster and obviously with lots of effort to be bug free.

Can we expect game changes in the version of omerta you are working on?

Completely, a total dynamic game. We're introducing real-time events, dynamic layouts and connection between every action you do in the game.
This is a very vague explanation. I can give some simple examples, pretty much, game will have different layouts depending on which city you are. Depending on which family you are. Game is also alive, this means, you will get real-time notifications of everything your friends or people near you are doing.

A little example, if I invite you for an heist, you instantly get a notification. At the moment, things mostly work via the Inbox. That will be over, inbox is used for messages, on the new Omerta you will have a small connection between things running in background (Example: Detectives, Bodyguard training, Items purchase)

Except the notifications, will there be other game changes for the players?

Game concept will be the same. But there will be lots of changes, specially, with economy. Money is not simply added or removed from game, everything you do, everything you steal, is money from/to somewhere.

An example: Hiring detectives will send money to that detective agency in that same city which if you Heist it. You will steal money from there. Pretty much, no randomness involved, if you want money, search for an active city and an active house to steal so you can get more chances of profit.

When will be this new version of Omerta go live?

I will keep you updated with that!

When is the reset for 4.02?

Reset and the main .COM decisions are made by .com VM (Bramblerose) so that is a question I can't reply directly, but pretty sure RoM at least will be on soon. We're working a lot into making versions last longer, that's on of the reasons a reset was not decided yet.

What can we expect for 4.02?

When .COM resets (next reset) couple things will be introduced: City Maps, which will change the family system a lot and the mission of families overall, we're working in bringing back the individual objectives for families of being proud that they won versions with complete dominance instead of the massive amount of blooded families that get together to close the version as fast as they can.
That is bad for the game and that is our main focus lately, in last version, we favored a lot re-rankers and active players which ended up with very nice results of a nice round in this .com version. There will also be a complete remade KA (by lilmike), that it's already done and coded, just in test-phase.

With this we're expecting the version to last long enough until the complete remake is done!

Next week i will give more information about new features in the new version of Omerta.
Stay tuned!

In next week interview we can read the anwsers on the following questions or topics:

- car races, will they stay?
- spot owners
- casinos
- game objective
- layout
statements
TLDR: KCode with his team is creating a new version of Omerta. When .COM gets reset KA will be changed and city maps will be back in the game.

Bringing back?
When has that ever happened?
Apart from a couple mediocre vouchers and a free famlvl the next version there is little to no reason not to pact.
Sure, there is the whole prestige thing blabla but that only really even is talked about on sites like OBN.
Doubt a HoF entry has ever been the reason for a pact-backstab either.

Brando once promised into looking for actual RL rewards for winning a version such as Ipads and other stuff that MIGHT motivate people to take a different route.
Now its debatable if that would even have an impact but the current system surely doesn't, and i doubt any other ingame 'benefit' will either.

we allrdy had free stuff :") we as gambino did once get a dvd of the godfather and not even a original one xD
I won a t-shirt back in 2.1 !!!!1!!!!!!1!!!!
Holy crap, you have an Omerta t-shirt?!? I'm still waiting on the one which was promised me for finding an exploit when doing alphatesting for 4.0...

YES! - Now everyone, I mean E-V-E-R-Y-O-N-E will be in Detroit, even those few lost souls from Italy!

Never really understood why people were in Detroit.....except if where looking for OG partner in this (more or less) lackey game - it was only city where you found online players. If you wanted cheap bullets - fly some other city (and come back later). But now I see the "light" - now I have the reason NOT to move from Detroit.
lol no. if you think about it, the more people that raid in one city, the less money there will be in that city, so people will have to travel around. when people hire bgs, they dont travel to detroit and hire, if that makes sense.

THe worst part about this is, I actually believe that Brando just shipped off some cheap copies he acquired at some backstreet dealer in Hong Kong.

I like this category.

Maybe you could ask if we can have a new VM as well, since, well, Bramble isn't much of an addition to .com

PS: You might want to log in first Anonymous, or your knowledge will be lost forever, and that would be a shame, wouldn't it?

Nice interview. I am glad that they atleast took note of all the KA complaints.

However, I do feel they really should consult some very experienced players who played this game for years and know alot of the shooting part. Like me.
