Basically yes, the female fetus is more robust compared to the male one, because of having two x-chromosomes not an xy combination. Can also be seen in minor deficits like red-green blindness.
If there is no other case like your son, and he is unique with this condition, and there are no other autist kids with the same genetic condition, then his condition does hardly apply to all the other autistic kids does it? So it's either unrelated to his condition, or name his condition "autism" is at least questionable.
there are some conditions that look quite similar to autism on a brief first glance (Angelman Syndrom), but as the name said, it's not Autism it's Angelman.
I don't doubt they found some mutation on that chromosome, that means it's not "working" properly, but I doubt that chromosome is missing entirely.

I am not exactly sure what condition you are talking about, but it is not autist for sure.
The Chromosom XQ25 sometimes shows up one time too often. Then the condition is called Trisomy or Down Syndrom.
Otherwise aforementioned chromosone might be mutated, but it's most certainly there.
Note of interest XQ25 is one of the genetic markers for several forms of cancer.
