If Gravano blooded Lucchese it would've ended with dead Gravano in the end, cause Lucchese already blooded Righelli, Leviticus and Provenzano - 3 fams who wanted Gravano dead.
Lucchese created new blood circle around them, which was pretty much obvious for Gravano there's no space for them there.

There are different ways to win a version it could be a very agressive style or a hugging style or mass blooding style.
The thing is that maybe ascesion choose for the hugging style because they didnt need the two others.
At this version most fams were too busy with there own enemies that fams like asces can sit and relax, something wich happened before when Nazdrovia won a version.
