article
There has long been a tradition of attacking (as they see it), rather a criticizing of the members of the ingame crew of Omerta. The tactics and demeanor of the ingame crew have been called into question by the associated reporters of this site countless times. However there is another force associated with Omerta that is as dysfunctional, arrogant and unprofessional as the ingame crew is.

The IRC Crew, the self-titled feds, who run the IRC server network like a Totalitarian state, Obey! Is the order of the day and it is served everyday to those users dependand on the IRC server to play the game.
The Feds own IRC, as we are shown every time a disagreement erupts between us the users and the IRC Operators, The death-squad of the IRC Administration. When faced with these arrogant people, there are often two conclusions to any debate that one may start with them regarding their tactics and demeanor. The one which is most common to the the fingon community is the g-line, a favourite used by the king-pin of the group, Teckna. We have had many reports of unfair g-lines (3nvisi0n, Mudbone ), on the site and so there is no indeed in my mind to repost any such logs. The other less used conclusion, which also gets to the point of the utter arrogance of the IRC crew, is the showing, if one types the affectionate /rules command, the two simple lines that sum up any argument made by an IRC Operator.
* You are a guest on this network, always follow the advice of the Omerta IRC operators. They are your hosts.
Continuing on with a criticism of the operators of the IRC network, I come to a topic which is often discussed in the channels and indeed in the random comments of this site. That being the power abuse associated with several members of the Operator team. I will refrain from going to into very much detail about a certain decision made by IRC Administration pertaining to this site; this has been discussed enough in my opinion. Instead I will focus on several other decisions made by the IRC Operators in the recent history of the server. The infamous Kredu, whose name, if typed on the server will be filtered and and typist will be alerted to the IRC Operators, , Is in some areas praised as a hero, but to those who serve on irc.barafranca.com he is a menace
-------- (~Teckna) such a spoiled brat :D
In order to combat the evasion of several permanent bands placed by the IRC Crew on Kredu, several members of the IRC Operator team took it upon themselves to close down the channels that this particular user had access to

All this despite the fact that Kredu completely refused to care about the closing of the channels.

The power to close channels at a whim has often been used to silence the sound of the majority, of the users, such as in the calling for resets. Another section of the immense power abuse is often seen in the entering of channels and self-AOPing by members of the IRC Crew. This is without the express consent of the founders of the channel and in the reality that they are kicked from the channel; they make a nuisance of themselves by re-entering the channel and setting the flags upon it that they won’t be kicked.
The power abuse by the operators is something that needs to be discussed, not only in this forum, but also in the meetings of the IRC Administration, perhaps sending a thousand letters to Brando about this behavior may indeed get some policy change. However one must question whether such seriousness can take place with Teckna running the show.
While I have tended to attack the operators because of the power they weld on the server, this is not who most IRC users will contend with when entering the channel #Feds. It is the helpers, those players who just want a little bit more power and decide to join the ranks of the crew that still allows them to play the game, even with the access to some vital information. In recent months the rate of service has dramatically dropped in the #Feds channel. This is not to be blamed on the Operators, they are to busy ‘caring’ for ‘their’ server in such a way that they are often unavailable to attend to the simple needs of most players, This lack of service can be blamed on the lack of skills and laziness that has come to be associated with the helpers. A regular visitor to the IRC channel while composing this article I was often astounded at the time it took to be noticed by an online helper, All operators were marked as away at the time. In most cases it took up to twenty minutes to be noticed by a Feds Helper, all the while they were active in other channels, I made this blatantly clear to them.
Another big problem is actually being voiced in the channel and being forgotten about, as if our queries did not matter to them at all.

Lastly is the quite disturbing quote about something that has been in the public eye of the IRC server for some-time, This as above is the apparent disrespect and disinterest of the problems that some users have been facing.

While this particular case between the associated parties is still in progress, what we see from this particular helper is a balatant disregard of someone calling out for help. The helper asks for a bit of time, no doubt to ask an operator about the situation at hand and yet 16 minutes later the helper has still not returned to help the poor usere who is banned for being idle. This is disgusting behavior, not only from the crew member involved, but also this reflects on the whole of the feds crew. From Helpers to IRCops to IRC Admins.

This is where I come to the conclusion of this rather large article, but I would rather have it been large to examine all the problems of the IRC Crew, then to skip out, From these logs that I have collected from various people and many others which were not mentioned in this article I am surprised at the ongoing rate at which the professionalism and integrity of Feds is falling. They are supposed to represent Omerta Games and yet they treat themselves like a bunch of spoilt rich teenagers who have nothing better to do then to make to treat the users like crap.
I propose to Teckna, Doncab and Brik (IRC Administration) that they should review the policies regarding the behavior of both IRC Operators and Helpers alike, perhaps even remove the helpers from the game, as those Helpdesk Lvl Crew members are, for are they, the helpers, not also in a position that they have access to certain information regarding users.
This is an issue that needs to be dealt with so that the level of service regarding feds can be once again at a level sufficient enough to properly help the users

Anonymous.

*During the writing of this article it came to my attention that several members of Feds crew were kicked for the following reasons 1. Scripting/Cheating 2. Writing Articles denouncing Crew on Fingon 3. Helping Scripter’s. , One cannot say that corruption runs rife in the Feds, but there demeanor is frankly lacking from the scene.

Thanks to Anonymous for the hard work of writing the article.
