Have a seat kids, because I'm going to tell you a story about the old days of Omerta.

C'era una volta il Hull
Once upon a time, admins just ignored players and their "idiotic" opinions. They simply didn't ask of their opinions, nor did they act like they cared. Of course the players didn't like this attitude, but it was tolerable. The admins simply weren't giving any false hope, and thus the players didn't expect anything real of them either. It was like seeing a ship the players loved broke in half and sank, but the captain didn't promise the passengers the ship would flap out its wings and fly to heaven, instead of sinking.

But then, almost a year ago, at the start of 3.1, the Self-Appointed Dictator for Life, Brando, had somehow seen the lights. Omerta's policy on major issues changed drasticly, for example, they acknowledged that resets are needed for the game, and he promised to listen to players. He even hired a new crew member, Shazam, to listen to all the players and combine their opinions for future policies. More vote of the day's were created. A special Facebook page was made to discuss things through comments with players.

Even though most people are against that last point, the usage of Facebook, because it excludes a major part of the players for discussion, there were clear signs Omerta, and more specifically, the attitude of the admins, were about to change. Players got hope again that admins would listen to them for the first time since 2.4, although of course this required well funded feedback, and most people were a bit happier than before because something was actually happening again.

Footmen? Servants? Lackeys!
As a part of their new found policy against scripters, or at least trying to show they actually were trying to deal with scripters (which is worth a whole article on itself), they introduced lackeys. Enough has been said about this subject already, and most know the pros and cons about them. You can like them or hate them, but fact is more accounts were created and there has almost never been so many highranks in the game since years.

One of the lackeys was a guy named Sluggs. He would do the buying of bullets for you, so with him introduced, nobody needed to do anything any more, except logging in and shoot. He was first tested and introduced on .dm, but because many players were complaining about the downsides of Sluggs, the admins decided to ask the opinions of the players once more.

And thus, this happened:
Pictures say more than a thousand words, so I decided to make screenshots!

Why should we give a fuck?
Clearly, the admins did not care one single bit about the players opinions. This would be no surprise if it was still 2.* or 3.0, but Brando had actually given us hope again... and he crushed it like he would do to bugs. Clearly, the admins only care about money, because, just like the other lackeys, Sluggs is an easy way to extract money from new players or players which don't have enough time. Not very surprisingly, the admins just want to continue the game on their road, on the road that gives them the most amount of money. It's understandable because they are a corporation, but once again they don't care about their customers, which could be a very bad decision in the long term. I've already heard of players who said they would retire if Sluggs was introduced on .com, and are now keeping their word. The fall of Omerta which started in 2.* continues on this way: real players are scared off, in favor of the mass of noobs which are more profitable for them.

The admins may become rich like this, but if the game only exists of brainless sheep which don't care they are being fucked with, what do they really have to show for?
