Today we got the announcement that the ROM got activated. Clearly the people in charge don't want to be late with starting the ROM, as it happened plenty in the past. I've seen mixed responses across channels about this, some feel there's no clear cut winner yet, some are done with the "ceasefires and deals".

What do you think? Discuss!

Dear all,

We have had a few nice wars in the last couple of days and although we always hope players will start to re-rank again, we decided to turn the ROM on so you can all decide if you want to reset this version.

The ROM will run for 3.5 days, so let?s all vote!

Take care,
Bramblerose

The RoM

The RoM is a creature of conflict. Designed by myself and Matty (ex-dev) it was supposed to be a response to the player's eternal wish to 'push the button'.

As with many cures, it caused more illness than predicted, in some ways.

Let me first of all state that *crew was very divided* about its genesis - and remain so. It has more detractors than fans. Matty himself did not like the idea, but coded it because he's a good guy.

Bramblerose loathes it but uses it because *there isn't anything better*.

Recently the Pt version re-launched and from the beginning ditched the RoM - why? Because they wanted to manage the game more directly. This has been a success, mostly.

So instead of getting what the community wanted all along - the community goes back to direct management by the version's management - and loses the RoM.

Probably the RoM will be switched off 'permanently' - parenthesis because most probably *you will begin asking for it to be switched on again*. Such is life at Omerta.

It seems hard to please most people. What would *you* do?

Here are the alternatives I know. I am unsure about each. I just don't know...

1. Let the game run forever without resets.
2. Run the RoM from day one and operate a fixed quorum vote for a reset.
3. Switch the RoM on when the players ask for this, the management decided it is time to or similar.
4. Run a game round of a fixed length.

Each alternative seems to have pros and cons.

Maybe you have a better solution? I hope so...

How much more milk can this cow give?

Until the cow tells the farmer to go fuck himself. But with the current "oh please mighty lord, let us play this 12 year old game" attitude it wont happen.

Funny, I said that years ago, when I quit playing.
Back then some not so clever Norwegian labeled that insight, as Timelord Drumroll.

But I am glad, that even the slower ones start to get that insight.
